About us
Charlie Ratchford Court is an extra care scheme in Chalk Farm, featuring 38 purpose-built homes and a care service designed to support residents of all ages with social care needs to live independently.
The building is part of Camden’s Community Investment Programme (CIP) which is our 15 year plan for building council homes, schools and community facilities for Camden residents. It has been designed to run on renewable energies and includes a shared lounge, a health and wellbeing suite, a green roof, and a guest suite for when family and friends visit.
Extra Care at Charlie Ratchford Court
This tailored care model is designed to support residents to maintain their independence, keep a connection to the wider community and to assist them to access local services that will help to reduce loneliness and isolation.
Staff at the scheme support the people who live there in a different way to traditional care settings. They work with people to co-produce their support, focusing on their strengths and what matters to them, rather than the things that they can’t do. Support is flexible, high-quality and helps people live as independently as possible.
As well as 38 flats (32 one-bed and six two-bed, all with outdoor space), there are a range of accessible and adaptable facilities and both indoor and outdoor communal space, as well as a shared lounge, a health and wellbeing suite and even a guest suite for when family and friends visit. Residents living at Charlie Ratchford Court are also offered freshly cooked meals every day which are prepared by chefs onsite.
The local community are also able to enjoy the facilities at Charlie Ratchford Court with activity spaces available to hire. There is also a café-style space and courtyard gardens which can be used by residents and the community.
A range of activities and events are also organised by the residents with support from staff.
