Certificate production time for entries registered after 1940 can take up to 15 working days to be processed. This does not include postage time. 

However, If you require a certificate for an event that took place before 1940 you will need to contact the General Office (GRO) to order it. Their telephone number is 0300 123 1837.

The express service is now back in operation.

Please note:

• To get your certificate processed the same day you must order your certificate before 12pm Monday-Friday.
• Any orders placed thereafter will be processed the following day.
• The cost of this service is £35 (this does not include postage cost).
• If you order a certificate before 12pm you will be able to collect the certificate between 16:00 - 16:15 that day Monday - Friday.
• If you order a certificate after 12pm you will be able to collect the certificate the following day between 16:00 - 16:15 Monday - Friday.

Please note, if you order a certificate for collection it will be held for one year. Any certificates not collected within a year will be confidentially destroyed, and you will have to pay again.

Copies of birth, marriage and death certificates

You can obtain a copy of a certificate for a birth, marriage, civil partnership or death that was registered in Camden.  We also have access to former historic districts of St Pancras, Hampstead and Holborn.
