Highgate Newtown Community Centre

Highgate Newtown Community Centre (HNCC) is based in an old Territorial Army hall at the bottom of Bertram Street N19. While the building is much loved, it wasn’t possible to make it into a modern community resource.

We worked closely with HNCC trustees and local residents to develop a design fit for the future. As well as community facilities there will be improvements to the public spaces. These include a new courtyard area and a new walking and cycling route through from Bertram Street to Croftdown Road.

The plans include building 41 new homes on the site. This includes at least 7 affordable homes.

Timescale:

Works are underway. We expect them to finish by Jan 2023. Highgate Newtown Community Partners is currently providing a range of services from other community venues in Highgate.

  • Planning consent for the scheme was granted in 2017. The application number is 2016/6088/P
  • The scheme was changed in 2018. Application number 2018/5774/P
