Free computers, tablets and phones courses

Are you afraid of technology and don’t know where to start?

Many people found themselves lonely, isolated and having to rely on others during lockdown. Was that you or someone you know?

Learn how to get online using a laptop/computer, tablet and smartphone.

Our courses will help you:

  • stay in touch with friends and family worldwide
  • make new friends and gain new interests
  • shop and search for jobs online

Our courses are designed for people with little or no experience with technology. Our tutors are friendly and patient, and will help you to relax. Soon you'll love learning with us.

If you have never done ESOL classes before, or not for a long time:

ESOL classes help you to improve your English speaking, listening, grammar, reading and writing skills.

This will help you:

  • get an English qualification that may help you find a job or a better job
  • deal with everyday life
  • make new friends
  • support your children with their school work

Free family learning courses

Family Learning

Do you want to help your child with their reading, writing, and maths skills in a fun, imaginative way?

Our Family Learning team run creative courses that will help you to understand how your child learns and develops.

You will make games and resources, meet other parents and develop your own confidence. We also run childcare courses, rhyme-time sessions for younger children and babies, courses to help you to support your child to start nursery/school and courses about Early Years Education.

Live storytelling with Alison

Join Alison online for live storytelling, music and activities. To take part, send Alison a text on 07876 651 950 to say you are interested. Please also give us your children's ages so the session can be designed with that in mind. She will then send you a link to the live sessions.

If you have missed any of our storytelling sessions it your child down with their favourite toy and watch them on our YouTube or Instagram pages instead.

Free health and wellbeing courses

We are working with community centres to stay in touch with the residents they support and find ways to provide learning activities during the pandemic. Many of the centres are also giving out food parcels and providing other support for people.

Community partners are welcome to contact us if they would like us to work with them to plan learning activities. Information about online courses will be posted here.

Upcoming courses, opportunities and events

Free Camden Adult Community Learning Health & Wellbeing Event, Tues 1 November 2022, 10am-1pm

Camden Adult Community Learning will be hosting its free annual Health and Wellbeing event in partnership with Camden Libraries and Camley Street Natural Park.

This wonderful event is open to everyone and organisations, council teams and services with a health and wellbeing remit will provide information and interactive activities to give a taste of what’s available in Camden for adults, older residents, and families. For example:

  • activities/exhibitions in local galleries, museums
  • physical activities: organised walks, gardening, exercise, sport, mindfulness
  • health: healthy cooking/eating, weight management, health checks, oral health
  • informal learning & leisure opportunities: choirs, book clubs, chess clubs
  • opportunities to give back: volunteering, charity work, community involvement

Want to earn while learning or training? Got ambition but need more work experience?

If you live in Camden or you went to a Camden secondary school, contact Camden Apprenticeships.

An apprenticeship allows you to earn a wage, get work experience and complete a qualification at the same time. Camden Apprenticeships creates a wide range of roles, helping people of all ages access their chosen careers. There is now no upper age limit.

Camden Cycle Skills and Try-A-Bike

Camden Council offer free cycle skills training for all adults and children. From complete beginners to advanced cyclists.

Free children's cycling courses are held during the school holidays.  Free adult group courses for beginners and improvers are offered on many weekends. Some are away from traffic and others on quiet roads. 

Free, individual cycle skills sessions to practice safer cycling in road traffic are available for advanced levels of experience.  And anyone can join at the open-access after-school cycling sessions. These are on Mondays and Thursdays after school at Cumberland Market and Richard Cobden School.

Adults who are thinking of buying a bike but are not quite sure, can borrow a bike for four weeks. This is with Camden's free Try-A-Bike scheme.  Proof of ID and advance deposit needed.
